For a long team, Real Madrid have been a strong feeder for the Spanish national team. Some of Spain’s strongest stars have come from the Spanish capital.
This was the case until last summer, when Euro 2024 saw a distinct lack of representation from Real Madrid, with just three representatives in the squad.
Things might slowly be on the turn however, as COPE are reporting that another Real Madrid youngster is set to get the call up to represent his national team.
Real Madrid’s young centre-back Raúl Asencio is the man in question, with the 22-year-old sought-after by Spain coach Luis de la Fuente.
De la Fuente spoke about the injuries that are facing the Spanish national team and assured that Asencio has earned his spot in the squad like many other players have.
Asencio has broken into the Real Madrid first team for the first time this season as a result of the injuries facing Carlo Ancelotti’s side, and this opportunity looks set to continue paying off for the young centre-back.
