Real Madrid target’s agent dismisses ongoing transfer speculation – ‘Pure invention’ | OneFootball

Rumours have been swirling about Alvaro Carreras potentially joining Real Madrid this summer, but the 22-year-old’s agent has firmly denied any such move.

Carreras, who plays for Benfica, has caught the eye with standout performances in both the Portuguese League and the Champions League, especially during games against big teams like Barcelona.

Despite the rising interest, including whispers from Madrid, his agent has now set the record straight.

Speaking to A Bola (h/t SPORT), Carreras’ agent, Gines Carvaja,l was crystal clear:

“I don’t know where this news comes from. Everything being said is pure invention and doesn’t deserve any comment from me.”

He added, “Carreras is doing very well at Benfica and will continue there.”

In recent days, multiple reports linked Carreras to a summer move to the Santiago Bernabeu. With Real Madrid reportedly unhappy with their current left-back options, the club has been scanning the market for reinforcements.

The 22-year-old talent’s current contract at Benfica includes a release clause of around €60 million, but there is a twist that could have favoured Madrid.

When Manchester United sold the Spanish full-back to Benfica, they reportedly included a buyback option of €20 million.

According to previous reports, Real Madrid were exploring a clever workaround: United would activate their clause, buy Carreras back for €20 million, and then sell him to Madrid for €35 million—netting the English side a tidy €15 million profit.

However, all of that now seems off the table, as despite the speculation and possible backdoor deals involving Manchester United, it appears Carreras is staying put—at least for now.

His focus remains on continuing his excellent form at Benfica, while Real Madrid may have to keep looking for a new solution on the left flank.
