Following Real Madrid’s 3-0 win against Pachuca to win the FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024, Vinicius Jr., who scored the third goal and was named Man of the Match, shared his thoughts on the game and the season so far in an interview with Telecinco (h/t MARCA).

The 24-year-old superstar, who won The Best FIFA Men’s Player Award for 2024 last night, expressed his pleasure at how things had gone for him, stating:

“I am very happy with today’s game and with yesterday, which was very beautiful and special, with that trophy that all the players want.

“In the last season, I have been able to win many titles and perform well. I always say that it is not only mine; it is for the players who help me on the field, the coach, the president, the staff… everyone is important for us to triumph today.”

Vinicius, who was awarded the Intercontinental Cup Golden Ball after his stunning display tonight, which included an assist for Kylian Mbappe’s opener, discussed the beautiful team-play that led to that goal, saying:

“It was a good goal, the connection with Jude was great, I was able to dribble past the goalkeeper, and I don’t know if I could score or not, but Kylian was alone, so I passed it to him.

“I hope we can continue like this; if the three of us score, we will normally win. Now we go to the last game at home with the fans and the trophies.”

When asked about Carlo Ancelotti’s record, who became the most decorated manager in Real Madrid history with 15 titles, Vinicius praised the coach, saying:

“The manager does everything perfectly, he deserves it.”
