Real Madrid star to miss Man City 2nd leg through injury | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at Real Madrid is expected to remain unavailable for selection in the club’s upcoming meeting with Premier League champions Manchester City.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Lucas Vázquez as the player in question.

Full-back Vázquez was of course forced to sit out on Saturday, as Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw by Osasuna at El Sadar.

Speaking in a press conference prior to the clash, though, Carlo Ancelotti expressed confidence that the Spaniard, alongside David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger, would be declared fit in time to play his part against the aforementioned Man City on Wednesday.

But if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, this will not prove to be the case.

As per a report from AS:

‘If there was a glimmer of hope, the first training session after the thriller in Pamplona leaves the door practically closed for Lucas. “He is out of the equation (to face Man City),” it is said internally.’
