A headline member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid could well be forced under the knife this summer.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards Antonio Rüdiger as the player in question.
Stopper Rüdiger has of course seen his name take its place front and centre in the headlines across Spain over the course of the last 28 hours.
This comes after the German was shown a red card late in Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey defeat at the hands of Barcelona, for nothing short of an explosive rant.
As much is expected to give rise to a lengthy ban, a blow for a Blancos side already short of options in central defence.
If the latest word stemming from the media on Monday is anything to go by, however, then Rüdiger may in fact have been forced to sit out some of Real’s upcoming fixtures, either way.
As per Marca, owing to ongoing problems with his right knee:
‘Pending the tests he’ll undergo and the progress of his injured knee, the possibility of surgery at the end of the season is gaining ground in the center-back’s future plans.’
