Real Madrid set their sights on Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi | OneFootball

Since Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos hung up his boots at the end of last season, there has been a real void in midfield in Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

Los Blancos have long been on the lookout for a midfield force that can suitably replace Kroos, And it looks like they have now set their sights on one man in particular.

As per Relevo, Real are targeting 25-year-old midfielder Martín Zubimendi, and Real Sociedad are already starting to work on finding his replacement.

The Basque star would be available for around €60 million, however, he may be unwilling to make the move, just as he was unwilling to pull the trigger on a move to the Premier League in the summer.

Young Real Sociedad star Jon Gorrotxategi, who is currently out on loan at Mirandés, has been touted to step into Zubimendi’s shoes should the latter decide to make the move to the capital.

It seems as though whether this move happens could well come down to the player himself, and whether he wants to stay or go.
