According to Fichajes, Real Madrid have reignited their interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero as they look to reinforce their defensive options.
With David Alaba just returning from injury and Eder Militao sidelined due to injury, the club is facing a big problem at the centre-back area.
As a result, the management has identified three potential signings to address the issue, with Romero emerging as a strong candidate.
At 26 years old, the Argentine has been a crucial figure in Ange Postecoglou’s setup at Tottenham.
While his performances have been inconsistent at times, his defensive resilience and physical dominance make him an appealing option for Madrid.
However, securing his transfer will not be straightforward. Romero remains under contract with the Premier League side until 2027, and Tottenham are not keen on letting him go without a fight.

Aside from Romero, Real Madrid is also monitoring other defensive targets. Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is on their radar, but his valuation exceeds £70 million, which could make negotiations difficult.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen presents a more financially viable option, as he could be available on a free transfer.
For Romero, it is said that Madrid may use Tottenham’s absence from European competitions next season as leverage in potential talks, but convincing the English club to part ways with Romero will still require careful negotiation.
In addition to reinforcing their centre-back position, Real Madrid are also prioritising an upgrade at right-back.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is their preferred target, but if a deal for the Liverpool defender proves too complicated, Pedro Porro of Tottenham is another name under consideration.
With defensive reinforcements high on the agenda, Real Madrid face a crucial summer transfer window. Strengthening the backline has become a necessity, and the management will need to act decisively to secure their desired signings.
