An iconic figure in the recent history of La Liga giants Real Madrid is all set to return to the club, after hanging up his boots.
That’s according to Relevo, who point towards Karim Benzema as the player in question.
Frontman Benzema, of course, brought a close to his iconic stint in Spain’s capital in the summer of 2023, opting for the riches of Saudi football, in penning terms with Al-Ittihad.
The Frenchman is currently contracted to Al-Ittihad for another 18 months, through 2026.
As per the aforementioned Relevo, however, Benzema is beginning to give real consideration to calling time on his playing days a year early, next summer.
This comes with the striker, set to turn 37 later this week, becoming tired of the day-to-day of professional football.
In the case of Benzema retiring, his immediate future will remain in the Middle East, where he would act as an ambassador for Al-Ittihad and the Saudi Pro League as a whole.
Beyond as much, though, the Ballon d’Or winner has long agreed to return to the club where he enjoyed such success, in Real Madrid:
‘According to Relevo, the striker, second highest scorer in the history of the club, has already agreed with the club to be its ambassador around the world and, above all, in the Arab zone.’
