According to a report from SPORT, Real Madrid defenders Dani Carvajal and David Alaba have been advised by the club doctors not to feature in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup in order to hold off their return until the pre-season.
The decision is purely precautionary, with Real Madrid opting not to risk either veteran defender under challenging pitch and weather conditions.
Despite the significance of the Club World Cup, Real Madrid are prioritising long-term fitness over short-term involvement.
The advice from the club’s medical staff is clear that dry and uneven playing surfaces combined with extreme heat in the tournament could increase the risk of injury setbacks, particularly for players recovering from physical problems.
Carvajal, who was expected to feature in the third group stage game against RB Salzburg, has always been a key figure in the squad.
His absence will be felt not just defensively but also in the dressing room, where his presence sets the tone for younger players.

In Alaba’s case, the club is being even more cautious. The Austrian defender, who is linked with a move away this summer, has had a rough two years with persistent injury troubles, including a serious knee injury last season.
After working hard to return, the risk of relapse under difficult playing conditions is not worth taking, and the club knows it.
On a more optimistic note, Eder Militao has returned to team training. While he is not pushing himself yet, his progress is encouraging.
The Brazilian centre-back suffered two major injuries in consecutive seasons, first tearing the cruciate ligament in his left knee, and then again in the right. After undergoing surgery in November, his recovery appears to be right on schedule.
The plan remains for Militao to ease back into full fitness, avoiding any rush that might jeopardise his long-term availability.
For now, he is being monitored carefully, and the coaching staff is satisfied with how things are progressing.
