Real Madrid are on the lookout for reinforcements in the centre-back department for the summer transfer window of 2025.
A number of names have been touted as possible targets, ranging from Aymeric Laporte to Castello Lukeba and Vitor Reis.
Another player who has been on the agenda of Los Blancos for some time is SL Benfica and Portugal centre-back Antonio Silva.
However, according to the latest update from Fichajes, Real Madrid have decided to no longer pursue the signing of Silva from Benfica, who could now be headed to Manchester United.
The Premier League giants are reportedly willing to pay over €75 million for the player, a figure that Real Madrid do not consider reasonable within their transfer policy.
This decision reinforces the club’s strategy of avoiding expensive bidding wars and focusing on strategic signings that align with their budget and sporting plans.

While Silva has been closely monitored by Real Madrid over recent seasons, the Spanish and European champions acknowledge that his future is likely to lie elsewhere.
Instead of feeling concerned, the Spanish capital club’s hierarchy is already exploring other options that would better suit their needs and provide an immediate impact on the team.
There also appears to be greater focus on nurturing academy talents as seen by the first-team promotion of Raul Asencio.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have also signed young defender Lamini Fati from Leganes with an eye on the future.
There is no denying that a proven centre-back is needed in the summer considering David Alaba’s injury woes and the advancing age of Antonio Rudiger, coupled with Eder Militao’s second ACL rupture blow.
But as things stand, that reinforcement will not be Antonio Silva, who appears to be bound for Manchester.
