La Liga giants Real Madrid have not ruled out the possibility of moving for a 2nd member of the defensive ranks at Liverpool this summer.
That’s according to Diario AS, who highlight Ibrahima Konaté as the player in question.
The name of stopper Konaté has of course long proven a prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital.
This comes amid the widespread understanding that Real Madrid have earmarked the Frenchman as a leading target to reinforce the club’s backline.
Konaté is due to see his terms at Anfield expire next summer, and has shown little intention of penning a renewal to date.
After landing Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer already this summer, Real Madrid, in turn, have been widely tipped to seek out a similar agreement for the Englishman’s ex-teammate in 12 months’ time.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, it is not out of the question that such a move could be fast-tracked to the weeks ahead.
As per a report from AS, in the case of a big-money sale being sanctioned elsewhere in Xabi Alonso’s squad, or perhaps an offer arriving for David Alaba, those in the boardroom at the Santiago Bernabéu have ‘not ruled out’ an immediate swoop for Konaté’s signature.
