In a recent report, AS mentioned that Real Madrid are hoping to land Manchester City midfielder Rodri this summer. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eager to acquire the services of the Spanish talent in this transfer period.

Rodri’s Injury Concerns In English Football Last Season

Rodri was sidelined for a lot of games for Man City last season because of a serious knee injury. Still, the Spain international managed to put in some impressive displays at the heart of Pep Guardiola’s midfield.

The 29-year-old featured in eight matches for Man City in the previous campaign, securing one assist in the process across various competitions. He has been a great performer for the Mancunian giants before his recent injury concerns. Hence, the Spaniard might benefit from making a switch back to his homeland in search of more game time next season.

Rodri is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2027. Therefore, Real Madrid would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting him this off-season.

Should Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso Bring Rodri On Board?

Rodri is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his side at the centre of the park. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The Spain international can shoot the ball with power from long range and is a strong runner with it from midfield. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also serve as a box-to-box midfielder if needed.

Rodri would add plenty of bite and steel to Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso’s midfield. He is good enough to challenge for regular first-team football at the Madrid club next season.

At 29, Rodri is still playing in his prime and would be a good acquisition for Los Blancos in the short term. He might even help the Spanish outfit compete for some major silverware over the next few years. Hence, Alonso would be wise to go all out to bring him on board before the end of this transfer window.
