In recent days, talks of Real Madrid moving for a new midfielder have gainedw weight, especially with Dani Ceballos nearing an exit.
Indeed, should the Spanish international move on, Los Blancos will enter the market for a replacement and are already scanning for potential options.
Links to Kees Smit of AZ Alkmaar have surfaced already while Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is also an option. Now, it appears that another young talent has caught Real Madrid’s eyes.
According to Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail, Real Madrid are among a host of clubs are keeping tabs on the situation of Kobbie Mainoo at Manchester United.
The 20-year-old English prodigy has been struggling for minutes at Old Trafford under manager Ruben Amorim, opening the doors for a potential departure.
Mainoo has been relegated to a bench player for the majority of Amorim’s stint as manager, with the young academy graduate not playing a single minute in Man United’s first two games of the season.

Furthermore, his contract talks with the Red Devils not progressing as planned has only served to exacerbate the situation.
As such, Real Madrid are monitoring the young midfielder’s situation, along with their local rivals Atletico Madrid.
The report suggests that both Spanish capital clubs would be willing to explore the idea of a loan move for Mainoo for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old prodigy, for his part, would not be against the idea of leaving Old Trafford, especially if a Champions League club comes forward. At the same time, he is also not ruling out a continued stay at his boyhood club.
Either way, it is assumed that Manchester United will not let Mainoo leave, even if it is on loan, this late in the transfer window.
