The transfer team at La Liga giants Real Madrid have begun work towards strengthening two areas of the club’s first-team squad.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards such efforts coming with a view to securing fresh blood at the back, and in the middle of the park.

Specifically, Real Madrid are eyeing additions at left-back, and at the base of midfield.

When it comes to the former, amongst the candidates to make the move to the Santiago Bernabéu for next season is Bournemouth standout Milos Kerkez.

The Hungarian is in high demand ahead of the summer, with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool also in the running for Kerkez’s services.

Turning attentions towards midfield, meanwhile, the focus is understood to be chiefly on Real Sociedad standout Martín Zubimendi.

Spanish international Zubimendi has long been tipped for an imminent summer move to the Premier League with Arsenal, but Real Madrid have not given up hope of landing the 26-year-old as Toni Kroos’ long-term replacement.
