Starting from the appointment of new manager Xabi Alonso, to completing two new major signings in Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold, while also closing the deal for Franco Mastantuono, Real Madrid have been very busy in the early days of the summer.
After what was a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, with the team failing to win a single major competition, Florentino Perez & co. are sparing no efforts to ensure that Alonso has everything needed to take the Merengues back to the top.
To that end, Guillermo Rai of The Athletic now reports that Real Madrid have made two more additions to the backroom staff of Xabi Alonso.
Indeed, apart from Ismael Camenforte, who arrived as part of Alonso’s staff, Los Blancos have now hired two new fitness coaches for the first team in a permanent role: Javier Arnaiz and Ismael Fernandez.

Arnaiz is the former performance manager of the Mexican national team and will be focused on the players’ gum work.
Meanwhile, Fernandez, who has a Sports Science Phd, will be largely working in data analysis.
The report indicates that both Arnaiz and Fernandez have previously collaborated with Real Madrid and have a novel method called ‘Thermohuman’ – which uses infrared thermography to assess anyone’s physical conditions.
All this comes in the wake of the endless injury problems Real Madrid have suffered over the past couple of years.
Beyond that, there were concerns about the methods of former fitness coach Antonio Pintus as well, who will now have a different role in Alonso’s staff.
In fact, the Spanish capital giants intend to add another fitness trainer for on-field work.
