Manchester United have release pictures of Erik ten Hag’s first team squad in training today and they include four stars who have been absent through injury.

With just Sunday’s Premier League match against Brighton to go before the FA Cup final against Manchester City, Ten Hag looks to be finally getting the majority of his squad back together after a season blighted with injuries.

Spotted on the training pitch were defenders Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof and striker Anthony Martial.

The fourth fresh face at Carrington was Brandon Williams, who has returned to the club after injury brought a premature end to his loan spell at Championship-winning Ipswich Town.

While Williams will not be taking part in the rest of United’s season – he is not registered to play – the other three may enjoy some minutes on the pitch.

Varane is the most likely to play a part in the last two games, having only been out for a couple of weeks. He may even renew his partnership with Lisandro Martinez for one last time against City, which would be the Frenchman’s last match before he leaves the club at the end of his contract.

Erik ten Hag has also said Harry Maguire might also be fit in time for the final, so it could be the case that all five senior centre backs are fit for the first time all season, leaving the manager with quite a selection dilemma.

Rumours have also suggested both Maguire and Lindelof could be sold this summer, and Evans’ contract will not be renewed, so it is almost certain that at least one other will be joining Varane at the exit door.

Martial, too, said his goodbyes to the Old Trafford faithful on Wednesday so if he appears in either of the two remaining games, it will also be his swan song.

Assuming no injuries were picked up against Newcastle on Wednesday, the return of these stars means that only Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount are still on the treatment table as we head toward the season end.

There had been hopes that Shaw was on the way back, but Ten Hag has said he has suffered a setback that may jeopardise his chances of making the showpiece final on Saturday week.
