We’ve ranked the five most valuable footballers in the world right now, using data from transfermarkt.

5. Phil Foden – Manchester City (€150m)

Phil Foden could be a rarity in modern football in ending his career as a one-club man. The boyhood blue has become an integral part of Manchester City’s modern success after coming through the club’s academy system, winning a wealth of major honours under Pep Guardiola.

The 23-year-old produced the best season of his career in 2023-24 as Foden scored 27 goals in all competitions to win the Premier League Player of the Season and FWA Footballer of the Year awards.

Still just 23, Foden has already won 17 trophies with the Citizens including six Premier League titles and the Champions League.

4. Kylian Mbappe – Paris Saint-Germain (€180m)

Paris Saint-Germain will lose one of world football’s most valuable players this summer for FREE.

Kylian Mbappe is set to sign for Real Madrid on a free transfer and leaves PSG as the club’s record goalscorer, with 256 goals in 308 appearances across all competitions.

The 25-year-old ended the 2023-24 campaign as Ligue 1’s leading scorer for the sixth straight season and will now take on a new challenge in the Spanish capital, as he looks to end his elusive wait for Champions League success.

3. Vinicius Junior – Real Madrid (€180m)

Mbappe’s soon-to-be teammate is also valued at €180m.

Vinicius Junior has been a decisive figure for the Spanish side in recent seasons with no player providing more goals and assists in the Champions League since 2021-22. The 23-year-old has scored 20+ goals in three consecutive campaigns for Los Blancos and completed the scoring in the 2-0 Champions League final win over Borussia Dortmund last season.

In the process, Vinicius became the youngest player to have scored in two Champions League finals, aged 23 years and 325 days. He will be a contender for the Ballon d’Or if Brazil produce a strong summer at the Copa America.

2. Jude Bellingham – Real Madrid (€180m)

Jude Bellingham is the third player who will play for Real Madrid next season in the top five most valuable players in the game, according to transfermarkt.

Bellingham signed for Real Madrid from Dortmund for an initial fee of £88m last summer and took Spanish football by storm during his debut campaign.

The 20-year-old scored 23 goals in all competitions as Carlo Ancelotti’s side won a La Liga, Champions League and Spanish Super Cup treble, and was named Player of the Season in Spain’s top flight.

1. Erling Haaland – Manchester City (€180m)

Erling Haaland is part of a four-way tie as the most valuable footballer in the world right now.

The Norwegian has been a goal machine since bursting onto the scene at Red Bull Salzburg, taking in a prolific stop at Borussia Dortmund before breaking records in a Manchester City shirt.

His debut season saw Haaland sweep up the Player of the Season accolades after a record-breaking 36-goal Premier League campaign in 2022-23, lifting a historic treble with Pep Guardiola’s side. He has now scored 90 goals in 98 appearances since moving to the Etihad.

Unstoppable.
