Without doubt, Rangers’ wing options are among the strongest we’ve seen at Ibrox in a long time. We now have three alpha players — Oliver Antman, Djeidi Gassama and Mikey Moore. There may be one or two more on the bench, but the fact is we have three genuine starters. Two left wingers, one right winger, and all of them strong. Rangers have serious talent on the wings.
Mikey Moore is a particularly exciting prospect. He hasn’t played yet, but this is an £18M–£20M Premier League player (official value), built like a unit despite being just 17. He can play. The youngest English scorer in Europa League history, Moore already has Premier League appearances for Tottenham and has impressed in European competition. It’s not the Champions League, but it’s still a serious stage. Rangers having a £20 million-calibre winger is exactly what we need. We said the same about Amad Diallo, and in time he’s proven his worth, with Manchester United now valuing him far higher.
Best of all, only one of these wingers is on loan. As that Leonardo DiCaprio meme making the rounds says, these are our players — we can fall in love with them without the heartbreak of sending them back in May. Moore will probably return to Spurs unless something sensational happens, but for now, he’s ours.
Then there’s Gassama. He’s done far better than expected. Before he signed, one of the regulars in Ibrox Noise’s WhatsApp group predicted he was a sensation in the making and could become a £20 million player. “Mark my words,” he said — and early evidence is vindicating him. We were cynical at first. Another League One signing didn’t exactly set pulses racing. But perhaps we really do have a gem here.
And Antman — we’ve already seen what he can do. His debut was electric, and we’ll cover him in more detail later. For now, it’s enough to say that Rangers finally have wing options worthy of the shirt. Long may it continue. Rangers have serious talent on the wings.
