FLW rounds up all of the R's injury news ahead of their home clash with the Tigers

Queens Park Rangers have had a poor start to the season so far with just one win in their first seven league games, but have the chance to put that right in midweek against Hull City at Loftus Road.

Many would have expected QPR to carry the strong form they ended in last term into this season, but that has not been the case up to now due to individual mistakes and a tendency to concede preventable goals in key moments.

It has not been all bad for Marti Cifuentes' side so far though, as they have only lost three times in ten games in league and cup, and just need to find that cutting edge to turn their draws into wins going forward.

With that said, they did turn in a disappointing performance on the road last time out, as they lost 2-0 to high-flying Blackburn Rovers and were second-best across the pitch, so must improve if they want a positive result against Hull on Tuesday.

Tim Walter's men began the campaign in bad form, but have won their last two games 3-1 at Stoke City and then 4-1 against Cardiff City, so it may now be starting to click for the German boss in East Yorkshire.

The R's will need to be focused right from the off, and Football League World have rounded up their injury concerns ahead of the bottom-half clash in West London.

QPR team news ahead of Hull City encounter

QPR have no new injury concerns ahead of Hull's visit to Loftus Road, but could receive a huge boost to their chances of success against the Tigers with the potential return of a key man.

Attacking midfield talisman Ilias Chair's lengthy injury layoff looks to be coming to an end soon, after he was pictured in training last week prior to the Blackburn game, but was not included in the squad against Rovers.

The Moroccan international has not played a single minute so far this term due to a back injury picked up in pre-season, but he could be in line to feature on Tuesday and make his first appearance of the new season, in very welcome news for R's supporters and Cifuentes alike.

According to London World, summer signing Liam Morrison is set to continue his spell on the sidelines, and is expected to need at least another month to recover.

The Scottish centre-back only joined the R's from Bayern Munich in July, but made just two cup appearances before picking up a knee problem, and recently had minor surgery to help him on the comeback trail.

He has been joined on the treatment table by veteran midfielder Jack Colback in the last few weeks, after he picked up a knock against Sheffield Wednesday on September 14 and missed the next three games, but the 34-year-old could reportedly come back into contention for the Hull clash, and will be a welcome returnee if he makes the squad.

Summer signing Jonathan Varane is not injured, but will sit out of the Hull game after he was sent off on the stroke of half-time against Blackburn for a late tackle on Danny Batth.

Ilias Chair's potential return would be huge for QPR

It is fair to say that the R's have missed some star quality this season, and Chair's absence has been the main reason for that, with other midfielders struggling to step up and replicate his influence on the team.

The 26-year-old has been one of QPR's star men since his initial breakthrough in 2017, and has registered over 30 goals and assists each from 236 appearances for his boyhood club, while impressing fans and neutrals alike with his great technical ability and close control.

He arguably had his best season for the Hoops last term under Cifuentes, with seven goals and eight assists in 44 appearances as he was imperative in their eventually successful aim to survive in the second-tier, and was duly linked with a move to Leeds United in the summer as a result.

His injury in the off-season may well have quashed any potential transfer advances, which was a positive for QPR, but he has been sorely missed at the start of the new campaign, and his potential return against Hull could be huge for Cifuentes' side against a team that gives the opposition a lot of space in their own half.

It is unclear whether he is ready to feature in senior games as yet, but the fact he has been in training for over a week now, and was not rushed into action against Rovers over the weekend, may well be a sign that his return is imminent for this midweek clash.
