USMNT manager Mauricio Pochettino has done Milan a favour by releasing Christian Pulisic early, so he will not participate in the friendly against Mexico.

The wide forward provided an assist for his Rossoneri teammate Yunus Musah in last night’s 2-0 victory over Panama, before Ricardo Pepi sealed the result in stoppages.

Pulisic started the match and was substituted at the 67th minute.

Early Milan return for Pulisic

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pochettino has not seen any fitness problems, but is still releasing him early for a return to Italy.

It means Pulisic will not be taking part in the upcoming match against Mexico on Tuesday night and can instead get some rest, focusing on training to recapture his best form.

This should allow him to start for Milan in the Serie A test with Udinese on Saturday evening.

Pochettino had complained in a press conference that the former Chelsea star was playing constantly at club level and this would inevitably leave him fatigued when international duty came around.

He has been on sparkling form this season with six goals and two assists in nine games between Serie A and the Champions League.

Weston McKennie has also been released early for a return to Juventus training.

Marlon Fossey, Weston McKennie, Ricardo Pepi, Christian Pulisic and Zack Steffen will return to their clubs ahead of the #USMNT‘s Tuesday friendly in Mexico.
