It’s been nearly two years since Lionel Messi left Paris Saint-Germain but the Argentine remains a topic of discussion regarding the Ligue 1 side. Moreover, one current player in France’s top flight commented on the veteran’s treatment.
Messi played from 2021 to 2023 in the French capital, and during his tenure, the capital club won Ligue 1 twice. However, the former FC Barcelona standout couldn’t help PSG win the UEFA Champions League.
Furthermore, in 2022, there was an awkward moment between Messi and PSG after Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup, defeating France in the final. As a result, PSG chose not to honor the accomplishment publicly at the Parc des Princes.

Almost three years have passed since that World Cup and RC Lens defender Facundo Medina roasted PSG for that decision. Medina believes that PSG should’ve honored their star player at the stadium despite it coming at a cost to the country he was playing in at the time.
“I didn’t like the way he was treated,” Medina told Diario AS (h/t Le10Sport). “Beyond being footballers, we are human beings, and we have feelings. That needs to be emphasized. It’s important to highlight the human value these individuals possess because what stands out with Leo is his humility and his ability to handle things.
“All the great athletes say it. It happened, they didn’t like it because they won the final against France, and what happened, happened. There’s no excuse for not paying tribute to a footballer of his caliber, who is unique.”
