Liverpool have been in great form this season, but they had the weekend off. That means they’ll head into their first-leg matchup against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes either well-rested or potentially a bit rusty.
Before focusing on the Champions League, Liverpool played one last Premier League match midweek, defeating Newcastle United 2-0 at Anfield on Wednesday night, carrying positive momentum into Paris.
PSG, on the other hand, are also coming off an impressive performance, beating LOSC Lille 4-1, with all four goals coming in the first half.

Luis Enrique spoke this weekend about the utmost respect that he has for Liverpool heading into this UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.
“I already know Liverpool very well,” Enrique said (h/t ParisTeam.fr). “Whether it’s Liverpool or the top teams in general, we always have an idea. But after analyzing their performances, I don’t really see a better team.
“There’s no doubt that since the start of the season, they’ve been the most in-form team in Europe, not only in terms of play and performance but also results.
“It could very well be a Champions League final, but unfortunately, that won’t be the case. We will do everything we can to give ourselves a real chance and be better than Liverpool. That’s our goal.”
With their win over Lille, PSG are now unbeaten in 22 matches across all competitions. This impressive streak showcases the team’s strong collective performance and rise to the top of Europe. The real test comes Wednesday with a crucial showdown against Liverpool.
