PSG’s star forward Ousmane Dembele is an injury doubt for the Champions League semi-final second leg with Arsenal.
The Frenchman scored the only goal of the game in the first leg as PSG secured a 1-0 victory to take back to the Parc Des Princes.
But the French champions have revealed that he has suffered a hamstring injury and will not play a part in their game against Strasbourg on Saturday.
“Ousmane Dembele has strained his right hamstring,” the club said in a statement. “His condition in progressing well.
“A further assessment will be carried out shortly.”
Speaking after the win over Arsenal, PSG boss Luis Enrique appeared bullish about Dembele’s chances of playing in the second leg, but insisted his side can deal with his absence if it comes to that.
“We’re going to try to get Dembele back on the pitch,” he said. “If Ousmane can play, that’s better, but if he doesn’t, we’ll still be a real team. We’ve been saying that since the start of the season.”
Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, refused to rule out Jorginho, Riccardo Calafiori or Kai Havertz featuring in the squad for the second leg.
Jorginho has been out since last month after suffering an injury to his chest, while Calafiori has not played for the Gunners since March after injuring his knee while on international duty with Italy.
Arteta said both would remain out for the game against Bournemouth on Saturday, however.
Kai Havertz, meanwhile, is expected to return this season having been out since February with a hamstring injury.
“I think so,” Arteta said. “I think if everything goes the way it’s going at the moment and the way it’s planned, I think he will have a chance to play a few games in the season.
On whether any of the three could play in the second leg against PSG, he said: “I wouldn’t rule all of them out. Let’s see in the next few days how they react.”
