PSG will face Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday for the UEFA Super Cup. While the Parsians have taken down several Premier League clubs this year, Chelsea showed in the FIFA Club World Cup final that the French side are beatable.

Spurs will not have Son Heung-min as the South Korea international left the Premier League club recently to join MLS side LAFC. Nonetheless, PSG will be without a key player of their own.

João Neves is suspended for the match against Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup and against Nantes in Ligue 1 following his red card in the Club World Cup final.

While the Ligue 1 side won’t have Neves, they could have a new No. 1 goalkeeper between the pipes against Tottenham. On Saturday, the Parisians announced the arrival of Lucas Chevalier, who will replace Gianluigi Donnarumma as the starter.

On the latest episode of the Ensemble PSG Podcast, Robin Bairner, chief editor at Football Transfers, spoke about the upcoming Super Cup and shared his thoughts on the capital club being the favorite to secure another trophy in 2025.

“Do they have enough firepower to trouble PSG? We’ve seen Son [Heung-min] leave to LAFC, James Maddison is injured, [and] Dejan Kulusevski, who’s another one of their major creative players, is injured. So Tottenham are certainly not without their problems coming into this match either. And of course, it will be their first competitive game of the season too.

“So there [are] some huge unknowns around this game. I would still fancy PSG simply on the basis of how good they were last season and, to some extent, how bad Tottenham were. But it’s going to be a really interesting match. It’s literally one that PSG could win by three goals or really struggle in. I would still tip PSG to win it, though.”
