It’s the start of the FIFA international window, but Paris Saint-Germain have already been dealt bad news. Kang-in Lee suffered an injury in South Korea’s 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Oman.

The March window didn’t come at an ideal time as Luis Enrique and his team were coming off impressive results against Liverpool and Olympique de Marseille. As a result, there momentum stops heading into their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie against Aston Villa.

Moreover, the other issue with the timing of this break is having players leave to their respective countries and risk coming back with injury.

L’Equipe reports that the player suffered an injury to his left ankle, which swelled significantly on impact. Lee will undergo imaging tests in the coming hours to determine the severity of the injury. Initial impressions are not very optimistic, as he left the stadium on crutches.

The PSG attacker was then helped off the pitch, hopping on one foot with support from a medical staff member. Once on the bench, he was in tears.

Lee was not originally supposed to play against Oman, having only joined the national team in Goyang the day before and trained just once with the squad.

However, after his teammate Paik Seung-ho suffered an injury on a questionable playing surface, Lee was subbed in at the 38th minute. Shortly after, he delivered a brilliant assist.
