Preston North End and Swansea City join the race for Minnesota United's much wanted Tani Oluwaseyi
Preston North End and Swansea City have entered the race to sign Minnesota United's much-wanted forward Tani Oluwaseyi.
Having already rejected a bid of over $4 million for the forward, MLS side Minnestota hold their striker in high regard, having attracted a lot of attention from clubs all over Europe.
A top-half La Liga club reportedly made the bid for Oluwaseyi. However, Minnesota value their star-man as higher than the price offered.
With the striker's future currently uncertain and the transfer window closing in a matter of weeks, Oluwaseyi could well be set for a move overseas with the inclusion of the Championship among the list.
It has been reported by GiveMeSPORT that Preston and Swansea both have Oluwaseyi on their radar, with the Canadian being heavily linked with a move to Europe this summer transfer window.
Preston and Swansea are both monitoring the forward this window, meaning a move to the Championship could well be imminent for the forward if his heart sways towards a move to England.
With both sides looking to bolster their attacks as the season kicks off, we could well see a bidding war for the Canadian's signature.
After a successful MLS campaign on a personal note last season for Oluwaseyi, it's no surprise that the forward has been highly talked about this summer window.
The Canadian clocked up an impressive ten goals and eight assists in 22 league appearances for Minnesota, making him a much-wanted target across Europe.
The forward's ability to find the net, however, goes beyond last season, with Oluwaseyi clocking up another eight goals in his first season in Minnesota and 18 league goals prior to that with his former club San Antonio.
With clubs showing keen interest in the 25-year-old, more bids for the forward could potentially follow in the coming weeks, with Preston and Swansea being among the list.
As well as making a name for himself at club level, the talented Canadian has impressed on the international stage for a couple of years now, as he was a key part of Canada's Gold Cup side, where he scored one goal and provided one assist in three matches.
Oluwaseyi also featured five teams for his country in their 2024 Copa América campaign. He certainly brings a wealth of experience from club and country that would be welcome to the Championship.
With Preston and Swansea both interested in upgrading their attacks by signing the 25-year-old, Oluwaseyi would face fierce competition for a starting spot.
Preston have the likes of Milutin Osmajic and Michael Smith, while Swansea have the Welshman Liam Cullen leading the line. The signing of Oluwaseyi would surely create a tough decision for both bosses about who their main goalscorer should be.
The Montenegrin international Osmajic seems to be a staple in Preston manager Paul Heckingbottom's side, and with new signing Smith coming in the door this summer, competition for places at Deepdale would be likely.
Whereas, Swansea kicked their season off on the wrong foot with a 1-0 away loss to Middlesbrough. A game in which they failed to score and create very little in the way of clear-cut chances.
Oluwaseyi's injection of pace and goalscoring know-how would for sure suit and aid Swansea manager Alan Sheean's side.
