The Greens could be tempted to cash in on these couple of stars if the price is right in the future

Plymouth Argyle waved goodbye to goalkeeper Michael Cooper this summer, with the academy graduate joining Championship rivals Sheffield United last month.

The 24-year-old is said to have moved to Bramall Lane for an initial £2 million fee, while the Pilgrims could receive up to a total of £4 million should all future clauses be met in his contract.

While the Greens were reluctant to let one of their stars leave, they were well-reimbursed for a player who had made his intentions known that he wanted to leave the club, before replacing him with Blackpool’s Dan Grimshaw.

With that in mind, we have taken a look at two more players who could well earn the Devon outfit plenty of cash in the future, with the pair likely to be tempting plenty of suitors if they carry on the way they are.

It will be no surprise to see Morgan Whittaker named as one of the two that could make Argyle plenty of money, with the Greens fending off interest in their star man throughout the summer.

Scottish Premiership side Rangers were said to be one of the main instigators in trying to get a deal over the line for the 23-year-old this summer, with the Glasgow side reportedly having two bids rejected before the season got underway.

Championship rivals Burnley were also said to have a late interest in the 19-goal man, with the Clarets tabling a couple of offers to try to tempt the Pilgrims into selling, but Simon Hallett and his fellow chiefs were having none of it.

Argyle continued to play hardball and insisted that their forward was not for sale, with Whittaker starting the 24/25 campaign off as an Argyle player, and got his first of the season in a 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers in August.

Despite fending off interest in the summer, if a club comes in with an offer closer to the reported £10 million that Argyle are holding out for, there could well be reason to consider cashing in on their prized asset an reinvesting in the rest of the playing squad.

2 Freddie Issaka

If Freddie Issaka reaches the heights that everyone at Home Park believes he can, then Argyle could have an incredible talent for the future on their hands.

The Welsh youth international has been touted for the top ever since he made his debut as a 15-year-old in 2021, and recently signed a contract extension with the club until the summer of 2028.

Since he made his initial bow, first-team minutes have proved to be elusive, with the teenage talent continuing to develop within the Argyle youth ranks, before being given a run in the first-team at the start of the season.

A red card against Queens Park Rangers stalled his progress somewhat, but with pace to burn and a devilish eye for goal, the 18-year-old will be eager to make his mark as the campaign progresses.

If he continued in the same vein as he has during his early career, there is no reason why Issaka can’t command a hefty fee in years to come, with the world seemingly at his feet in terms of the potential that he possesses.
