Portsmouth pair Annie Hutchings and Lily Dent will miss the remainder of the season with long-term injuries.

Pompey provided a player update via a post on their official club website this morning.

It has been reported that defender Hutchings has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury while forward Dent has picked up an ankle injury and will not recover before the end of the campaign.

Hutchings and Dent’s injuries have dealt Portsmouth a further blow in their bid to stay in the Barclays Women’s Championship. Pompey have had a difficult first season in the second tier in which injuries have not helped their cause. Manager Jay Sadler has been without club captain Hannah Haughton, defender Jazz Younger and forward Emily Pitman for virtually the entire season while defender Izzy Collins and midfielder Georgie Freeland are not expected to be seen in a blue shirt again until at least early April.

Portsmouth are rooted to the bottom of the Barclays Women’s Championship table after collecting just two points from their 14 league matches. The club are four points from safety with six games left to play. Pompey have a huge game against relegation rivals Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday afternoon.
