FC Porto are working on a deal to sign Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior after having an initial approach turned down.
The Portuguese side saw a package worth around £23.3m rejected earlier in the transfer window.
Arsenal want to keep Kiwior, but the player’s desire for more regular first-team football could lead to an exit.
He was left out of the squad for the club’s Premier League opener at Manchester United on Sunday as he explores an exit from the Emirates.
The Poland international has started just 21 league games across the last two seasons and Arsenal have added Cristhian Mosquera to their defensive options this summer.
Porto are now readying an improve bid for Kiwior, according to the Mirror, with the proposal set to be an initial loan offer with an obligation to make the move permanent.
Despite rival interest from Italy, the Primeira Liga team are leading the race for Kiwior.
Porto want to pair the 25-year-old with international teammate Jan Bednarek, having signed the Polish centre-back from relegated Southampton earlier this summer.
