Player ratings: Inter 2-0 Atalanta – Dumfries stars with Supercoppa double | OneFootball

Denzel Dumfries was the standout performer as he netted a brace during Inter’s 2-0 win over Atalanta in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final on Thursday evening, on a rare occasion where Gian Piero Gasperini didn’t’ quite get his selections right.

Inter 2-0 Atalanta: Supercoppa Italiana ratings

Inter player ratings: Sommer 6; Bisseck 7, De Vrij 6.5, Bastoni 6.5; Dumfries 8.5, Barella 7, Calhanoglu 7.5, Mkhitaryan 6.5, Dimarco 6.5; Lautaro M. 7, Thuram 6.

Best Inter player: Dumfries 8.5 – An easy selection in the end. The Dutchman provided both of the game’s goals: The first with an improvised, acrobatic effort within the penalty area, the second with a really well-taken strike. Dumfries has now scored against Juventus, Lazio and twice against Atalanta this season, plus another against Monza at the start of the 2024-25 campaign.

Worst Inter rating: Sommer 6 – If anything, this is intended as a compliment to Inter’s overall game. The Nerazzurri stopper really didn’t have too much work to do until right at the end, and therefore didn’t really have much of an impact on proceedings.

Coach: Simone Inzaghi 7 – The Nerazzurri tactician fielded his strongest XI, and though he played against a rotated Atalanta side, the Nerazzurri looked by far the more motivated of the two sides. Telling that Inter were able to take some of their star players off in the second half, while Atalanta had to call on the first teamers in an attempt to rescue the game.

Atalanta player ratings: Carnesecchi 7, Kossounou 6, Hien 5, Kolasinac 6; Zappacosta 6.5; De Roon 5.5, Scalvini 7, Ruggeri 6; Brescianini 6, Samardzic 6; Zaniolo 5.

Best Atalanta player: Carnesecchi 7 – Full credit to a goalkeeper who was considered one of the standout performers in an eventual 2-0 loss. The 24-year-old stopper was called into action and had to stand strong on a number of occasions when Inter were peppering the Atalanta net early on in the first half.

Worst Atalanta rating: Zaniolo 5 – The Italy international made his full Atalanta debut this evening, but Gasperini did not get the best out of the former Roma man, who wasted a number of chances to do better on the ball before being hooked after 50 minutes.

Coach: Gian Piero Gasperini 5 – It’s rare to say this, but Gasperini didn’t quite get this one right. He saw an opportunity to rotate his side, while Simone Inzaghi went full strength and punished La Dea in a number of areas on the pitch.
