Manchester City attacker Phil Foden has been named Premier League Player of the Season for the first time in his career.

Foden fended off competition from Erling Braut Haaland, Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Alexander Isak, Ollie Watkins, Virgil van Dijk and Young Player of the Season award-winner Cole Palmer.

This accolade follows Foden’s earlier triumph in the FWA Footballer of the Year award. His success is unsurprising as his dazzling performances have been instrumental in Man City’s success.

Since breaking into the first team, the 23-year-old’s versatility has been a significant asset to Pep Guardiola’s side.

Whether playing as a winger, central midfielder or as a false nine, Foden has consistently delivered top-tier performances.

His dominant display in the Manchester derby, where he scored and assisted in a 3-1 victory over United, was one of many big-game performances this season from Foden.

The Englishman has racked up 17 goals and eight assists in 34 league matches to leave Man City within touching distance of defending their Premier League crown once again.

Heading into the final matchday this weekend, Foden is one win away from winning four English titles in a row and he will be keen to cap off a fine individual campaign with yet another winners’ medal.

With the European Championships on the horizon, England fans will hope that Foden translates his club form onto the international stage as the team bids to end their wait for a first major trophy since 1966.
