Manchester City fans may be greeted by a new look to their manager Pep Guardiola when the season kicks off against Wolves in August.
After a summer of reflection and recharging following a campaign that saw Manchester City finish without a major trophy and outside of the Premier League’s top two positions, Guardiola has returned to the public eye sporting a distinct new facial hair style.
The Catalan coach, known for his ever-evolving footballing philosophies, has now also evolved his own personal style, with a moustache that has grabbed the attentions of thousands across social media this week.
Guardiola has often used the off-season as a moment to re-centre and prepare mentally for the challenges ahead, and having overseen a difficult 2024/25 season that included a mid-season slump, there is a belief that their legendary head coach is more motivated than ever to reclaim domestic and European dominance in what will be his penultimate contracted year.
The Manchester City boss will also be aiming to integrate a number of new signings into the group during pre-season, including Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders, while dealing with potential exits such as those of Jack Grealish and James McAtee.
Appearing in a new promotional video while attending specialty health centre Monarka Clinic in Barcelona, viewers have noticed that Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola was sporting a new moustache grown over the course of the summer.
Guardiola’s visit to the Monarka Clinic – a facility known for regenerative treatments and high-performance recovery – marks a familiar return to his home city, where he often spends off-season time with family.
While the moustache may simply be a personal grooming change, some supporters have already jokingly suggested it could mark the beginning of a ‘revenge tour’ for the Catalan coach with hopes high that City can bounce back from a challenging season.
The first chance for supporters to see Pep Guardiola’s new look in person could come at the ‘City Are Back’ open training session on August 5, before the club head to Sicily for a friendly against Palermo on August 9.
By that point, Pep Guardiola’s moustache may well be gone, but if it remains, fans will be wondering whether it is the symbolic start of a refreshed and recharged Pep Guardiola era.
