After a dramatic and hard-fought 4-2 victory over Flamengo in the round of 16, Bayern Munich continue their Club World Cup campaign when they face reigning Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday at 18:00 CEST.
PSG demonstrated their class in their last-16 clash against Inter Miami, dismantling Lionel Messi & Co. with a dominant 4-0 win, with all goals coming before half-time.
Although Bayern face a tough challenge, they can draw confidence from their recent record against PSG, having won their last four encounters, including a 1-0 victory in November.
“It’s going to be another difficult match against PSG, they’ve had an unbelievable season,” said star striker Harry Kane after Bayern’s win over Flamengo.
“We already played against them this season and came out on top. We have to try to take the energy and the good feeling into this match. We know it’s going to be difficult, but we feel like we can beat anyone when we’re at our top level. We need to recover well now and prepare.”
“This could be a very good moment to take our revenge,” said the winger, who has been linked with a move to Bayern this summer.
“When we faced them earlier this season, we weren't in a great moment. Now I think we can do much better. Are we favourites? I don't know, but when we play like this, I think we're unstoppable."
Neither team has any fresh injury concerns ahead of the game.
A notable change for Bayern is the absence of Leroy Sané, who is no longer available following the expiration of his contract and his move to Galatasaray.
However, Bayern still have plenty of attacking options, including Kingsley Coman, who has recovered from a knock sustained against Flamengo.
Jamal Musiala, who picked up a knock in Bayern's second game of the tournament against Boca Juniors and came off the bench against Flamengo, could return to the starting lineup for Saturday’s encounter.
For PSG, French star Ousmane Dembélé could potentially make his first start of the tournament after returning from injury as a substitute against Inter Miami.
