Panama in the hunt for first crown

Panama enters the Quarterfinals after finishing first in Group C with a perfect 3-0-0 record. Los Canaleros opened the campaign with a 5-2 thriller against Guadeloupe, followed by a 1-nil win over Guatemala and a dominant 4-1 victory against Jamaica.

The three-time runners-up scored 10 goals throughout the group stage, Panama’s most in a single Gold Cup group stage and the most for any side so far this 2025 edition.

Five of its 10 goals have been courtesy of Ismael Díaz, who currently leads the Golden Boot race. Díaz tied Gabriel Torres as the Panamanian player with the most goals in a single edition.

Honduras back in Quarterfinals

Honduras returns to the knockout round of the tournament for the first time since 2021 after earning a 2-0-1 record to finish among the top two in Group B.

After falling to Canada in its Gold Cup opener, Los Catrachos bounced back by defeating El Salvador 2-nil and Curaçao to secure a spot in the Quarterfinals.

The team’s four goals this campaign have been scored by four different players: Jorge Álvarez, Luis Palma, Dixon Ramírez and Romell Quioto.

Honduras’ best finish at a Gold Cup came in the inaugural edition, when it lost the final on penalties. Its second best-finish came as semifinalist in 2005 and 2009, the latter coached by current manager Reinaldo Rueda.
