AC Milan are a club steeped in history, having collected plenty of silverware over the years.

One trophy they have lifted on numerous occasions is the Supercoppa Italiana, with their latest triumph coming just last season after a 3-2 win over bitter rivals Inter, taking their overall tally in the competition to eight.

On this day in both 1993 and 2004, Milan secured the trophy for the third and fifth time respectively.

In 1993, Fabio Capello’s Milan edged a narrow 1-0 win over Torino, with the final staged across the pond in the United States. Marco Simone scored the only goal of the game.

A little over a decade later, having not won the trophy since 1994, Carlo Ancelotti guided his side to victory. On a memorable night at the San Siro, Andriy Shevchenko struck a hat-trick to lead Milan to glory.

Now a four-team format, the timing of the competition has varied over the years. While it was once typically held at the start of the season in August, it now largely takes place in the winter months, with Milan winning the 2024/25 edition in January this year.
