Manchester United might be in the midst of their darkest period for four or five decades, but the memories of the glory days are never too far away, and today brings another.
It is 26 years since United won their fifth Premier League title in seven seasons, completing the first part of the historic treble.
Then only known as Alex Ferguson, the Reds had gone head to head all season with Arsène Wenger's brilliant Arsenal side, but found himself one point clear heading into a final day clash with the Gunners' arch-rivals Tottenham.
As has tended to be the case both in good and bad times, United did things the hard way, battling back from an early Les Ferdinand goal to secure the title in typically dramatic fashion.
United went onto defeat Newcastle United 2-0 in the FA Cup final six days later, before achieving sporting immortality on May 26th 1999 in Barcelona in arguably the most famous European Cup final ever.
As fate would have it, United's hopes of getting back to similar heights anytime soon hinge on a Europa League final against Spurs.
How they could do with summoning the spirit of '99 in Bilbao on Wednesday.
