On this day in 1987, Liverpool hero John Barnes joined the club from Watford in a deal worth a reported £900,000.
The winger was brought to the club by Sir Kenny Dalglish during the Scot's first stint as manager.
Renowned for his pace and strength, Barnes went on to score 107 goals across 406 appearances in all competitions, while he also registered 92 assists in that time.
Barnes won two First Division titles, two FA Cups, and one League Cup during his time with the Reds, before moving to Newcastle United after a decade of service.
