Tomorrow evening, we will see Spurs resume their final shot at glory this season, as they take on Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, in the first leg of their Europa League round of 16 clash. Here is all we need to know about our hosts.

Ahead of the showdown tomorrow evening, here is a preview on AZ Alkmaar

We actually already know a little about our counterparts, after meeting in the league phase of the competition back in October - where a Richarlison penalty won the game for Ange Postecoglou's side.

They finished 19th in the league phase, with 11 points from eight games, only one point aboe Braga and Elfsborg, whom did not qualify for the play-offs. They were drawn against Galatasaray in the play-off round, winning 6-3 on aggregate - after a 4-1 win at home, and 2-2 draw away.

In terms of domestic form, AZ currently sit in sixth place in the Eredivise, with 43 points from their 24 games - seventeen points behind league leaders Ajax.

When it comes to their squad, there is again one player that Spurs fans will be familiar with - former striker Troy Parrott. The recently turned 23-year old has scored 12 league goals this season - although has missed 16 big chances. In the Europa League, he has scored four goals and created six big chances in just 687 minutes of football.

Midfielder Sven Mijnans has also scored four goals in the Europa League, including in the 4-1 win over Galatasaray. Meanwhile, Ruben van Bommel has scored three goals, he went off injured early in the previous game against Spurs. For anyone wondering, he is indeed the son of Mark van Bommel. Yes, we are all getting old.

Deep lying midfielder Jordy Clasie played against Spurs twice back in the 15/16 season, when he was playing for Southampton. Likewise, central defender Bruno Martins Indi played against the club three times, during his spell at Stoke City.

Right winger Ibrahim Saqid has scored four goals in just 568 Eredivise minutes so far this season, and will provide direct threat that Spurs will need to be wary of throughout the game, particularly in transition. His seven big chances created in the league is a team high.

This will not be an easy tie, but Spurs are the comfortable favourites to progress for a reason. If they want to prove they are a serious side, they should be navigating this tie without much adversity. Let's wait and see.
