It had appeared all summer long that it was only a matter of time before Jack Grealish left Manchester City. The question always seemed to be where the England international would play his football next season. Everton were looming as a potential destination for Grealish. Now it has been reported that Jack Grealish is set to complete a loan move to Everton. That is the ideal move for Grealish and Manchester City entering a new season.
David Ornstein and Gregg Evans have reported for The Athletic that Jack Grealish is on the verge of completing a loan move to Everton. Furthermore, The Athletic reports that Grealish is set to complete a medical ahead of his loan move to David Moyes’ side today. It is also reported by The Athletic that there is a non-mandatory option to buy clause included in the deal. The potential transfer fee Everton could pay for Grealish is close to £50 million.
The last two seasons at Manchester City have been disappointing for Jack Grealish. Injuries and a loss of form have seen him fall down the pecking order in Pep Guardiola’s squad. The England international couldn’t be a consistent contributor for his team, leaving him facing an uncertain future entering this summer. Jack Grealish was left out of Manchester City’s FIFA Club World Cup squad and didn’t travel to Italy for City’s 3-nil friendly win over Palermo. All indications were that Grealish would leave City this summer. Now his move to Everton is on the verge of completion.
Jack Grealish was a key contributor to Manchester City’s treble success during the 22/23 season. He played a key role in what could be considered Manchester City’s ultimate success. The England international brought control and stability to Pep Guardiola’s side as they had a season for the ages. Although Jack Grealish’s past two seasons haven’t gone to plan, his contribution to City’s treble-winning season cannot be overlooked.
Jack Grealish is set to complete a loan move to Everton. The hope is that Grealish can return to his best. He has been a beloved squad member at Manchester City and if he can return to his best he should force way into contention for England’s 2026 World Cup squad.
