On the 10th of December last year, Spurs ended their run of one point from five games, as they overcame Newcastle United with a convincing 4-1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This time last year, Spurs pull off impressive win at home

The bench consisted of; Lo Celso, Hojbjerg, Gil, Skipp, Donley, Forster, Emerson, Dorrington, and Veliz. The first five all came on, whilst the rest were all unused subs.

Since then, Lo Celso, Skipp, and Emerson have been sold, whilst PEH was loaned with an obligation to buy, so is as good as sold. Gil is on loan at Girona, Donley is on loan at Leyton Orient, and Veliz is on loan at RCD Espanyol.

Early on, with the score still 0-0, an inviting cross from Anthony Gordon looked set to be put away by Aleksandar Isak into an open goal, but an incredibly intervention from Davies managed to send the ball behind for a corner. Oh how Spurs could have done with that box defending against Chelsea.

With around 25 minutes gone, Udogie played a ball out to Son on the left hand side. The skipper went down the outside, firing in a low cross that was tapped home by the Italian defender himself. A full-back attacking an inviting cross from a winger, that really was Ange Ball in its purest form.

Then, 13 minutes later, Son once again managed to get the better of former Spurs team mate Kieran Trippier down the left hand side, before having to composure to cut the ball back to Richarlison, who fired the ball into the bottom corner, doubling the lead for Ange’s side. That was enough to take a two goal lead into the half time interval.

On the hour mark, a sublime ball over the top from Porro found Richarlison again, who took a touch, baiting the goalkeeper to come towards him and leave more of the goal empty, before calmly finishing, despite the attention of a Newcastle defender – giving Spurs a 3-0 lead.

Just three minutes later, Kulusevski carried the ball through space in the middle of the pitch, before playing a perfectly weighted through ball to Johnson, whose shot struck the woodwork. That was the type of dynamic we have seen this season, which was lesser spotted during the last campaign.

We had around ten minutes of normal time remaining when another Porro through ball played Son in on goal, who was taken out for a penalty. The captain stepped up to score, making it a goal to go with his excellent two assists.

In stoppage time, Callum Wilson got a consolation for the visitors, frustrating to lose the clean sheet, but a great win overall.
