Olivier Giroud Makes History Just Minutes Into Lille Debut
Olivier Giroud needed just 11 minute to open his account for Lille finding the net in Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash against Brest. The French forward made history with his debut strike.
At 38 year and 321 day, Giroud became the oldest player to score for Lille. He broke the record previously held by Jose Fonte who scored at 38 year & 319 day.
The goal was also Giroud’s first in Ligue 1 since May 2012 when he last scored for Montpellier. That strike helped his former club seal the league title before he moved abroad.
Following his Montpellier triumph, Giroud built decorated career with Arsenal & Chelsea in England, AC Milan in Italy and LAFC in the U.S. His return to France has already delivered milestone.
