L’Équipe understands that the assistant head of Olympique Lyonnais’ academy, Fabien Caballero, is set to make a switch to Ligue 1 rivals OGC Nice.
Since Florian Maurice’s arrival at the club as sporting director in the summer, he has been on the lookout for a head of recruitment for the academy side. That comes amid a shift in strategy at the Allianz Riviera with an increasing emphasis put on developing, rather than recruiting players.
To put this strategy in place, Nice are recruiting in different positions and the recruitment sector is a position that they have looked to strengthen. Caballero is expected to arrive at the club soon. It was Caballero who took over from Pierre Sage after the latter was promoted to head of the first team just under 12 months ago. Caballero will replace David Brero. Lyon are expected to find an internal replacement for Caballero, L’Équipe understands.
