Tiago Tomás is once again back in Stuttgart! The Portugese forward has completed his transfer from Wolfsburg to his former club for a reported fee of €13 million + €2 million in possible add-ons.
The 23-year-old has played for Stuttgart between January 2022 and June 2023 and featured in 47 games for them during that time. His new contract in the South of Germany runs until June 2029.
“Tiago brings many qualities to the table; he is fast, a strong dribbler, and has excellent technique,” explained VfB sporting director Christian Gentner. “With these skills, he not only fits in very well with our playing style, but will also make our offense much more versatile and therefore more effective.”
“In addition to that, he has a positive and open personality and will integrate into our group without any settling-in period. Of course, this is also because Tiago already knows VfB and parts of the squad, and both he and we have very good memories of our time together.”
Tomás himself is very much looking forward to his return:
“I am delighted to be able to play for VfB again in the future. I am very happy that the transfer has gone through and I am looking forward to working with the whole team. VfB has developed enormously since my first spell in Stuttgart. I want to contribute with my performance so that we can achieve our new goals and be successful together.”
According to some reports, the Portugese forward was not being favoured by Wolfsburg's new headcoach Paul Simonis and received the green light to look for another club.
