Djibril Soumaré is now officially a Sheffield United player. The Senegalese midfielder signed with the Blades on Monday, August 4, 2025, joining on a season-long loan from Sporting Braga. The deal includes a mandatory purchase clause if the club secures promotion to the Premier League.

Sheffield United finalized the signing of the 22-year-old defensive midfielder after several weeks of negotiations with the Portuguese club. The Senegal international, who is under contract with Braga until 2028, becomes the latest summer signing for Ruben Selles's side, who made strengthening this position a priority.

"Senegalese star Djibril Soumaré has signed a season-long loan deal after Sheffield United agreed terms with SC Braga, the Portuguese Primeira Liga club. The agreement includes a mandatory purchase clause if certain criteria are met," announced the English club.

The terms of this transfer highlight Sheffield United's cautious strategy. According to multiple sources, the Championship club will pay around €1 million for Soumaré's loan, with a mandatory €8.5 million purchase clause that will only be triggered if the Blades achieve promotion to the Premier League this season. This approach allows Sheffield United to secure a promising talent without taking on excessive financial risk.
