Tommaso Pobega will be out for a very lengthy period after suffering an injury against Monza.
After 24 minutes of action on Sunday, Pobega was forced off the pitch due to an injury, being replaced by debutant Jan-Carlo Simić who also scored for the Rossoneri in the 3-0 win.
The injury of the Italian midfielder has turned out to be worse than expected and today he underwent surgery. A statement on the website of Milan reads:
“Milan announces that Tommaso Pobega has undergone surgery to repair his left rectus femoris tendon. The operation, carried out by Surgeon Lasse Lempainen in Finland today and observed by Milan Club doctor Dario Donato, was a complete success. It is estimated the player will require four months to recover.”
Stefano Pioli would therefore have to do without Pobega for several months, which could be a problem especially in January where Ismaël Bennacer will also be gone due to the Africa Cup of Nations.
