Watford FC have officially announced the arrival of Othmane Maamma (19) from Montpellier HSC, with the Moroccan U21 international signing on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

The Montpellier academy product made 14 appearances for the club in Ligue 1, playing mostly on the right of the attack (but he can also play on the opposite flank). On his first start for the club, at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, he scored his first goal for the club during a 2-1 win over RC Lens.

His second and final would come in the 2-1 victory over Toulouse FC in January of this year, a match that would also prove to be Montpellier’s final win of a disappointing campaign that saw La Paillade finish rock-bottom of the table.

Maamma will be hoping for more fortune from his new club, Watford finished last season 14th in the Championship. This will be the fourth consecutive season that the club have spent in the second tier following their relegation in the 2021/22 campaign.
