Centre forward Sebastien Haller (31) is leaving Borussia Dortmund and joining Dutch first division club FC Utrecht with immediate effect.
Haller, who arrived at BVB from Ajax in 2022, played 33 Bundesliga matches (9 goals) and 6 Champions League games (1 goal).
He was loaned to newly promoted Spanish La Liga side CD Leganes in the first half of the 2024/25 season, and then to FC Utrecht.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, BVB and Haller have now agreed to terminate his contract, which was originally due to run until 2026.
Haller is demanding a handsome price for this termination, with the 31-year-old set to receive a severance payment of €5million.
"Sebastien has written a special story here [in Dortmund]. He fought his cancer with impressive strength.
"Now he's returning to Utrecht – to a club that means a lot to him and for which he has played regularly in recent months.
"We wish Sebastien all the best for the future and, above all, good health," says sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
