Cremonese have announced the loan signing of Rennes centre-back Mikayil Faye (21). The 21-year-old’s move to the Serie A side includes an option to buy. Faye is the latest player who joined Rennes last season to have found an exit door as Sporting Director Loïc Désiré was tasked to trim down the bloated squad he inherited from his predecessor, Frederic Massara.
The former Barcelona youth graduate never found his mark in Brittany. He only appeared 11 times for the Bretons last season in Ligue 1. Faye’s playing time has decreased gradually, given Rennes signed Anthony Rouault and Lilian Brassier earlier in the year. Les Rouge et Noir also recalled Jérémy Jacquet from his loan at Ligue 2 side Clermont.
