Official: Barcelona Femeni superstar Aitana Bonmati signs new contract until 2028 | OneFootball

Barcelona have successfully tied down superstar Aitana Bonmati to a new contract until the summer of 2028, the club have officially announced.

“History continues. FC Barcelona have agreed terms for Ballon d’Or holder Aitana Bonmatí to remain at the club until 30 June 2028, showing just how much faith the club has in a player who joined when she was just 11 in 2011,” the statement from the club read.

Aitana, the current Women’s Ballon d’Or holder and the favourite to win the prestigious honour once again later this year, signed the new contract earlier today in the presence of club president Joan Laporta, Femeni sporting director Marc Vives and other officials.

With the new contract, Aitana becomes the highest-paid player in the Barcelona Femeni squad, surpassing Alexia Putellas, who previously held this distinction.

One of the current greats of women’s football, Aitana has enjoyed a sensational past 12-18 months or so, from winning the Ballon d’Or to the European Player of the Year award and the Laureus Best Sportswoman.

Aitana has played 275 games for Barça, scoring 96 competitive goals – making her the club’s all-time leading goalscorer. She is also tied with Alexia Putellas for the Champions League record of 22 goals.
