Barcelona’s season has been filled with excitement, drama, and record-breaking performances.

However, one of the most striking aspects of the campaign has been the constant presence of two key defenders—Jules Kounde and Pau Cubarsi.

They are the only players in the squad who have featured in every official match so far, highlighting their importance under Hansi Flick.

The Frenchman and the young Spaniard have been ever-present across the 38 matches played this season. While they have not always started, their consistent involvement reflects their value to the team.

Kounde, in particular, could have played even more minutes had it not been for disciplinary issues. On multiple occasions, he was benched for arriving late to pre-match tactical meetings, costing him a starting place three times.

Cubarsi’s reliability is especially remarkable given his age. He recently turned 18, yet he has already established himself as one of Flick’s most trusted players.

His performances have demonstrated maturity beyond his years, and he continues to be a vital part of the manager’s defensive structure.

Others following the list

Just behind them in terms of appearances are Raphinha and Pedri, two more pillars of Flick’s current setup. Both have featured in 37 matches, with Pedri missing only one game all season.

This is particularly encouraging for the midfielder, who has struggled with injuries in the past. Since Flick’s arrival, though, he has managed to stay fit and maintain his consistency, something that had been a major concern in previous seasons.

On the other hand, Andreas Christensen has played just 26 minutes this entire season, the least by any player with his only appearance coming in the opening match against Valencia.

Meanwhile, Ansu Fati’s situation is even more concerning. He has not started a game since October 2024 and has rarely even been included in matchday squads.
